Day 21 - 30 Days Of TV Challenge.

Day 21 - Favourite Ship.

So in case anyone is unaware, to "ship" is to root for or to want two people to become a couple. Pretty sure it started on Tumblr, when people would ship film characters or TV characters together, even if they were never actually a couple in the movie or programme.
However, I think my favourite ship was an actual TV couple, and I would say Chuck and Blair, but my last post was about them, so instead I'd have to say Luke and Lorelai on Gilmore Girls.
Gilmore Girls was just full of cute couples, I shipped Rory and Dean sooo bad, but the biggest ship was always Luke and Lorelai. I'm sure I cried when she proposed to him.
Luke was so obviously always in love with her, and when Lorelai finally realised it was a long awaited episode.
I don't know anyone who would disagree that they are the most perfect couple, and they were definitely meant for eachother.
I was gutted when Christopher came back and she slept with him, and not to mention MARRIED him. However, despite a whole lot of selfishness between both Luke and Lorelai, they do eventually end up together, and happy married.
Their relationship is so on and off, and sometimes non existent, but still nonetheless, my favourite ship.

Day 20 - 30 Days of TV Challenge.

Day 20 - Favourite kiss.

For this one it has to be Chuck and Blair in Gossip Girl! At first, I really didn't like either Chuck or Blair, but as a couple I loved them. Such a powerful and in love couple, I rooted for them far more than I did for Dan and Selena.
Obviously, if you've never watched Gossip Girl, you'll have no idea who I'm talking about, but it's basically about a bunch of rich teenagers, who get followed about and documented by a blog called 'Gossip Girl'. The blog shares rumours, secrets and causes havoc for this group of teenagers, and half of the story line is so unbelievable, but I couldn't help but continue to watch it.
Chuck and Blair were my favourites though, because as awful as they got, they adored each other, and there was so many scenes between them that could give you butterflies; one of which when Chuck actually tells Blair he loves her back.
Chuck travelled Europe, trying to avoid Blair, but ends up returning and giving her her favourite gifts from France and Germany, and finally mans up and tells her he loves her too.
Such a cute moment, in the midst of a fairly cringey TV show, and it's so good to finally see them happy together.

Day 19 - 30 Days of TV Challenge.

Day 19 - Best TV Show Cast. 

For this one I think there’s a lot of well known TV shows that many would chose for this, like Friends or The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, but I think I’d have to go for Big Mouth for this one.
As it’s a cast who work together so well and have made the most disgusting yet hilarious TV show I’ve seen this year.
The voice acting in this animation TV show is fab, and you wouldn’t believe how many people you know are playing so many different voices. It’s a very ‘Simpsons’ kinda thing, where you’ve got one actor voicing multiple characters, but it works just as well.
Definitely worth a watch, it’s so funny but so gross too.

Day 18 - 30 Days Of TV Challenge.

Day 18 - Favourite title sequence.

This one is so hard because I love theme songs and montages and I’m the type of person who rarely skips the intro if it’s catchy or fun. Unless it’s on that Series of Unfortnutate Events Netflix series, because the opening sequence to that was awful.
Instantly Gilmore Girls came to mind, and Orange is The New Black but purely because of how catchy or interesting they are. But I think my absolute favourite is the Bojack Horseman opening sequence; it’s just fun and flows nicely.
Also, it changes slightly each season so it’s fun to look out for that!

Day 17 - 30 Days of TV Challenge.

Day 17 - favourite mini series.

So I think for this one, it has to be Evil Genuis on Netflix! It’s an absolutely crazy look into a bombing, heist and elaborate plan conducted by a group of people. I don’t want to give too much away because the docuseries goes into so much depth of everyone involved. But I can’t stress enough how much you need to watch this!

Basically, a pizza delivery man went into a bank to rob it, and ended up being caught and being blown up by a collar bomb. He claimed someone made him do it, and it’s an investigation into who made him do it, why and the whole elaborate plan they conducted. 

Day 16 - 30 Days Of TV Challenge.

Day 16 - Your guilty pleasure show.

For this it is 100% Jane The Virgin. As cringey and unrealistic it is, it definitely is my guilty pleasure.
I haven't watched any of it in a good few months, so I'm not entirely caught up on the latest season, but I just find it so easy to watch!
Sometimes a cheesy rom-com is called for, and this is it for me. The entire concept and all the storylines are so unrealistic, but it is based off of telenovela's, and it constantly references that throughout the series.
It's not most peoples first choice, but I just found myself getting really invested in it a few years ago and I've been a fan ever since.
It's not something I'd recommend to someone, because it's not like I really see it as a fantastic show, but I just really enjoy it myself, and find it to be such an easy watch.

Day 15 - 30 Days of TV Challenge.

Day 15 - Favourite Female Character.

I found this one a lot harder, because lately there's so many powerful, funny or relatable women in TV.
I do think my favourite right now has to be Annalise Keating, from How To Get Away With Murder.
Annalise is such a strong character, and the entire show is amazing, but she just makes it so much more entertaining. Viola Davis absolutely nails the part, and makes the show so gripping and intense; she has managed to make me both laugh and cry, and I honestly think she is perfect for the role.
The issues represented throughout the show are portrayed so real and emotional, that at times it is hard to watch, but she does it so well.
If you've never watched it I would definitely recommend it, because it's so easy to get invested in it, within the drama and the comedy too, it's very entertaining.

Day 14 - 30 Days of TV Challenge.

Day 14 - Favourite male character.

This one was surprisingly easy, maybe because it's from a show I'm currently watching, but it seemed a good pick; Damon Salvatore. Honestly, I didn't like him when I first started watching The Vampire Diaries, and I still haven't finished it, but I think he's just hilarious and charming.
I don't know of anyone whose watched the show and hasn't ended up loving him. His character is so sarcastic and funny, yet a such a real personality, to say he's a mythical creature.
I found at some points in the show it did get a bit boring, or even frustrating, which you'd expect from a long running show, but Damon kept it going in my opinion. Whether it was his love for Elena, or his witty comments, it kept the show going when there may not have been much more going on.
And referring back to a earlier post about Liz Forbes' death, I sobbed at not only her passing, but how human Damon had become; from the hard shell exterior he first portrayed, to someone who actually cares for people, and gains friendships with Bonnie and Liz.
I just feel that in terms of him being so likable, and the character growth and progression, he has to be my favourite male character.

Day 13 - 30 Days of TV Challenge.

Day 13 - Favourite Childhood show.

There's so so many shows that I loved as a child, and it definitely depends on which age you'd call "childhood", but the one that stands out the most is Hannah Montana.
I remember the release on Disney Channel, and every weekend catching up on all the episodes we'd missed at our dad's house. Given that it started in 2006, and I would have been 8 at the time, so I think it's fair to call it a childhood show.
That whole era of Disney Channel was insanely good though; Wizards of Waverly Place, That's So Raven, Kim Possible, Lizzie McGuire, the list goes on.
Hannah Montana was definitely my favourite though, I can remember when it was first aired, right up until it ended, and it was such a big part of my youth.

Day 12 - 30 Days of TV Challenge.

Day 12 - An episode you've watched more than 5 times.

I think for this it would definitely be a Friend's episode, or Gilmore Girls, because they're both shows I watched on Channel 4, or Comedy Central growing up, and I've also rewatched them on Netflix.
Shows like that, easy to watch and funny, have always been a great way to pass the time, and I think they're shows you never get fed up of.
When it's such a long running TV show it's easy to forget a lot of episodes, so they're so easy to rewatch.
I remember coming in from school and putting on E4 on my freeview box to watch either of them, probably when I was even too young to get half of the jokes. But they're definitely shows I've watched countless times, especially with the amount of re-runs on TV.
If you're quite a busy person and like background noise, I would definitely watch Gilmore Girls, especially if you haven't seen it in years, because I found it's so much funnier than I remembered, and so easy to follow if you want to watch TV, but don't want to give something your full attention.

Day 11 - 30 Days Of TV Challenge.

Day 11 - A show that disappointed you.

I think this is a slightly unpopular and maybe even controversial opinion, but Riverdale was so disappointing for me.
At first i really enjoyed it, like the first season, it was pretty good. But the second season was so unbelievably cringey, it got to the point where I couldn't bare to watch it anymore. I did stop watching it, but I have watched various of the late season 2 and some of season 3 episodes recently, and it's still not great. I feel like it could have been a one season kinda thing, but it just got dragged out and made me cringe so so bad.
The whole "red circle" thing in season 2 was the start of the unbearable second hand embarrassment for me, and so many characters just began to grate on me.
I know a lot of people do enjoy it though, but it's just not for me.

Day 10 - 30 Days of TV Challenge.

Day 10 - A show you thought you wouldn't like but ended up loving.

If you've read my previous post, you'd know that I was completely shocked by how much I ended up liking The Good Place. However, another show I didn't think I'd like would be Brooklyn Nine-Nine, because I expected a cheesy and predictable comedy show.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a comedy about the 99th police precinct in Brooklyn, and I can honestly say I have never ever laughed at a TV show so much. Andy Samberg is the main character, but it's based around the detectives within the precinct and their captain, played by Andre Braugher, who is a very strict and formal man, the absolute polar opposite of Samberg's character, Jake Peralta.
The most hilarious character has to be Charles Boyle, played by Joe Lo Truglio, because everything he does, down to the one liners and facial expressions are perfect. Peralta and Boyle are partners and work together so so well, they make the show what it is.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone, as it's an easy watch, and absolutely hilarious too.

Day 9 - 30 Days of TV Challenge.

Day 9 - Best Scene Ever.

This is so hard, because in so many TV shows there is an unforgettable scene or episode in every season of TV shows. Films are so much easier for favourite scenes, because there's only so much in such a condensed amount of storyline. I did do a best movie scenes post though, so I will link that below.

However, back to the question, and really thinking about this I struggled because I don't want to keep repeating myself or dwelling on sad moments. So on a happier note, I think the scene from Friends where Rachel realises that Ross has always loved her, is a nice mixture of happy and sad.

This scene has to be the best, because eventhough it's only season 2, it was such a long time coming. I have to admit, that when I rewatched Friend's Ross really frustrated me, but at this point, it was just pure adorable.
I know a lot of people don't get the Friend's hype, but this scene just seems so real to me! And it was just one that always comes to mind when you think of memorable scenes. There is a lot of great scenes in Friends, especially Ross and Rachel scenes, but this is epic in the way that this is when she first really realised she loved him, and there's so much humour, and a little bit of sadness too to make it the best scene.

Day 7 - 30 Days of TV Challenge.

Day 7 - Least favourite episode of your favourite TV show.

For this one I instantly knew what I would choose, and it's an episode of The Vampire Diaries. It's not a least favourite, because it's bad, but because of how much it made me cry and broke my heart. There will be spoilers in this, because it includes deaths and I'll also mention after effects of the episode, as certain characters turn their humanity off as a result of it.
Season 6, episode 14: "Stay".
Throughout watching the show, there has been so many deaths, and ressurections, but this might have been the most heartbreaking. Elizabeth Forbes, Carolines mum dies of cancer, and it was so sad and had such a big impact on everyone. It caused Caroline to shut off her humanity, and in turn, force Stefan to shut his off too. Damon lost his best friend, and painfully reminisced about the supposed passing of his own mother. And even, through a chain of events, it eventually causes the death of the gemini coven; if Damon, Bonnie and Elena never went back to 1903 prison world to get Lily Salvatore, to trigger Stefans humanity. This in turn, made Bonnie leave Kai in the prison world, and then trigger his masacre at Jo and Alaric's wedding, which was equally as heartbreaking as Liz's death.
Season 6 made me get so attached to so many characters, but especially Liz and Jo, and this is definitely the most heartbreaking season yet. I haven't finished the show yet though, so I assume it's only going to get even more sad.

Day 6 - 30 Day TV Challenge.

Day 6 - Favourite episode of your favourite TV show.

I have a lot of favourite TV shows, so I have a whole bundle of episodes that come to mind. A lot of Black Mirror episodes instantly cropped up in my mind, or The Good Place, Orange is The New Black has so many I loved, or even Vampire Diaries. I think even though there's probably about 40 episodes of random shows I could class as my favourite episode, that season 2 of The Good Place was so funny, and episode 2, "Dance Dance Revolution" has to be my favourite.
To briefly outline, without too many spoilers, it is an episode with endless reboots of "The Good Place", with really funny outcomes in each reboot, causing the next one.

Day 5 - 30 Days of TV Challenge.

Day 5 - A TV show you hate.

You would assume this would be easy, but it's actually really hard, because generally if I don't like a TV show, I stop watching it long before I could begin to "hate" it.
However,  I think a lot of your boring daytime television could come into this, like Antiques Roadshow or Homes Under The Hammer, because I just don't find it entertaining.
Other TV shows that I have tried and really not got along with would be The I.T Crowd, or Marvel's Daredevil, despite a lot of people raving about it.
Also, a lot of TV shows that come up on Netflix I tend to get one or two episodes in and find little or no interest in are quite common. I got a couple episodes into Grace and Frankie, and just didn't find it funny, and I got almost all the way through Insatiable before I really couldn't bare the cringe and storyline any longer.
But I don't particularly hate any TV show, or at least none that I despise so much that they have come to mind whilst writing this.

Day 4 - 30 Days of TV challenge.

Day 4 - My favourite TV show ever.

This is definitely the hardest one yet, because I tend to get really invested into one show, then move on. Or leave it a year or so then watch the entire thing all over again.
There's definitely a lot of shows that I was convinced were my favourite, but then had a shocking ending, Lost for example. Or shows that were insanely good, only to run on too long and become a chore to watch, like The Walking Dead, in my opinion anyway.

However, I think that Orange is the New Black might have to be my absolute favourite. The show just has the absolute best cast, and the most impactful storylines. It's so hard to find a show that's entertraining, funny and even as powerful as it is, especially when it impacts and involves so many different communities. I love how one show can literally make me laugh and cry within the same episode, and brings awareness to so many awful things that are happening right now!
I do feel like there is a lot that can be talked about, and I think I might rewatch all of the seasons soon so I can do a more indepth post on the whole thing, but I definitely do think it has to be my favourite.

Day 3 - 30 days of TV challenge.

Day 3 - Your favourite new show.

This is definitely a toss up between Mindhunter and The Haunting of Hill House, but given that Mindhunter has been out for quite a while now, and might not even be considered "new" anymore, it would have to be The Haunting of Hill House.
The Haunting of Hill House was so terrifying and gripping, I honestly wanted to watch it again straight after finishing the season. I still cannot get over how insanely well made it was! From the hidden ghosts, gripping storyline, and the cinematography.

Episode 6 HAS to be my favourite, mainly just from how it was shot. I felt like the episode was the longest one yet, until I realised that up until that point, it had all been filmed in one shot. I was amazed by the camera work and how smoothly everything transitioned. It did turn out that it wasn't entirely one long shot for the entire episode, but some takes were around 20 minutes long, and the editing was done so seamlessly it was hard to even tell if the shots had changed.

The spirits in this were so creatively terrifying as well. After binge watching the first 6 episodes one evening until 3am, we soon realised we were going to have to sleep with the light on. But if you're queasy, like I am, there really wasn't much, if anything, that made me cringe at all. It was so well made, that it was the tension and intensity of the acting that made it so scary.

I don't want to ramble on too much, as I do plan to do a whole other blog post about this show, but it definitely has to be my favourite new show right now.

Day 2 - 30 day TV show challenge.

Day 2 - A show you wish more people were watching.

I watch a crazy variety of TV shows, so I know there's a lot that many people would think aren't worth watching so this will be really hard.
It definitely depends on the genre, because I could easily say that not a lot of people I know watch The Vampire Diaries, and I think its great, but I know there's an insane amount of other people that do watch it, hence the spin offs. In terms of underappreciated shows though, I would say that The Good Place is a bit of a hidden gem.
The only reason I decided to watch The Good Place on Netflix is because my younger brother talked me into it, saying that it's nowhere near as cringey as the description on Netflix made it sound.
I gave it the benefit of the doubt and ended up watching the first season 3 times, and the second twice!
I honestly think it's hilarious, and it's really managed to keep going, despite at first I thought there could only be one season made out of the plot.
The third season is currently streaming weekly on Netflix, and although I might be a few weeks behind, it hasn't disappointed me yet.
I would definitely recommend it, because it really is so entertaining.

Day 1 - 30 Day TV show challenge.

Day 1 - A show that should never have been cancelled.

This is such a hard question for me, because honestly there's a lot of shows I started watching and gave up on when i found out they'd been cancelled, because I hate getting emotionally invested in a TV show just for it to be cancelled!
However, I think Arrested Development wins this one for me.
Ignoring the awful "revival" seasons made by Netflix, the original seasons done by Fox I really loved.
It was just one of those shows that's an easy watch, and really funny too, and even though it did get a revival, I'd still consider this a cancelled TV show.

30 days of TV challenge.

I have had this saved in my drafts for what seems like forever! So to help me get back into the swing of things I'm going to do the 30 days of television challenge (see below).
I'm going to do the first 7 days over the next couple of days to catch up, then do it day by day! As a running blog post a day throughout December.

I'm back!

So I've not posted for a very long time, but I've decided to get back into it. I've had an incredibly difficult year, and I now intend to focus on the more positive things, and I have always loved film, media and television, so I really want to get back into watching things in depth and reviewing or analysing them on here, and even just sharing my thoughts!
